    Ryazan region provides excellent opportunities for tourism, rest and recreation.
    Guests of the Ryazan region may visit different museums, art galleries, theatres and become participants of various festivals, holidays, popular cultural performances.

          The most interesting are the following. The International Puppet Theatre Festival “Ryazanskie Smotriny” is regularly carried out from 1989. During 15 years of its existence the festival became one of the important events of theatre life of Russia, acquired acknowledgement and popularity in creative circles of many foreign countries. A lot of art critics, reporters, directors and artists, teachers and students of drama schools take part in the festival. The program of the festival is known for its variety and wide range of themes, genres, techniques.  

           The International Scopin’s Festival of Potters. Potters from different countries demonstrate their art and organize master-classes for all visitors: everybody can not only watch masters’ unsurpassed skill but also make a ceramic item himself.  

          Ryazan Tourist Festival “Oreshek” is the brightest event of this kind in our region. It is carried out on the last Saturday of May on the shore of Orehovoe lake.The program of the festival includes sport competitions, concerts and mini-festival of air balloons.

          The holiday of Russian poetry. Every year thousands of admirers of Esenin’s poetry come to his birthplace to take part in the all-Russia holiday devoted to the celebration of the poet’s birthday. The understanding of Ryazan land can’t be full without visiting Esenin’s place of living, now a museum, the restored Kazanskay church, tasting “medovuha” in the restaurant “Russian Byl”.

           The international scientific conference “Pavlov Scientific Readings” is very popular with scientists from all over the world who present their investigations in the sphere of physiology in the House Museum of academician Pavlov in Ryazan.

            Summer day in the Kremlin is carried out on the first Sunday of July. During the holiday all the museum expositions are free. Visitors become observers of bright dramatized performances with old – age  Russian games and funs, concerts, take part in historical quizzes and master – classes organized by craftsmen of Skopin ceramics, Mikhailov lace, Shilovo wicker- making.

             The holiday devoted to the beginning of liberation of Russia from the Tatar yoke “Fight on the Vozha”. It is a historical festival with the participation of historical clubs from different regions of Russia. The program of this holiday is diverse: the fair of folk decorative handmade articles, medieval fencing tournament, musical performances, the dramatized action “Fight on the Vozha”, reflecting the events of 1378 (the Tatar invasion).

              In 1378 Tatar khan’s envoy came to Ryazan land. The united army of Moscow prince Dmitry Ivanovich and Daniila Pronsky met him on the Vozha River, where one of the most legendary fights took place. It was the first time Russian people had won a victory for 140 years of Tatar invasion. It was the main rehearsal before the fight on Ku1ikovo field.   

               The festival of the Russian song. This holiday takes place at the last week – end of July in the town of Sasovo (Ryazan region). The guests of the festival become observers of the concert in which outstanding singers of folk lyric songs take part. Besides they visit the unique museum of the Russian song, where people have an opportunity to learn much interesting about the history of folk art of the Ryazan region and Russia in general.
